Suntory, well known for it's Japanese whiskey, announced yesterday that they have succeeded in producing a biotechnology based blue rose. According to their press release they synthesized the blue pigment gene from pansies and introduced it into rose dna. Apparently they've been working on this in Australia since 1990.
