Update: This post has been so popular that I started a new Hello Kitty weblog with lots of cute photos of Hello Kitty items my wife and I have found around Japan. It's called "Hello Kitty Sightings".
On most weekends, assuming that the weather is fine, I try to get out of the house and ride my bicycle for a while. One of my regular stops is a great bakery (kind of defeats the purpose of cycling - doesn't it...) It's called "Noppotei" which means "tall man shop/bakery", I guess because the owner/baker is quite tall. It's a small, local neighborhood shop, off the beaten track, but the bread and pastry is absolutely fantastic.
This morning I stopped in and picked up a few pastries for my wife and I to enjoy over coffee. When I got home and she opened the bag, she said, "You bought Hello Kitty pastry!" Turns out she was exactly right - though I didn't even notice the Hello Kitty mark on the sausage until she pointed it out.

Sure enough, there was Hello Kitty smiling up at me. I'm not sure why kids (and adults) feel motivated to eat their favorite characters. Hello Kitty is just one popular example, and it is really easy to find lots of food with Hello Kitty on it. I haven't gone to Disneyland recently, but I imagine the shops there are full of Winnie the Pooh cookies and Mickey Mouse candy. They probably don's serve Nemo sushi though...

this is very grotesq. i think that this should be illegal.

First off I realize this is an old posting forum but thought I would post anyway. I think it's very creative, and in response to those that think it should be banned and whatever- people need to step back and think that they are perceiving images differently as an adult than a child. Children aren't going to see that and think the enuedo thoughts a lot of "corrupt" people would. See following link to know what I mean, be sure to make the image full size. http://spilog.org/images/dolphintst.jpg
Thanks, Holly

To be honest with you, I didn't know that was a pastry dish. But I'm glad it was. And I'm like the dude Mark that told the first girl to grow up because she is acting like a kid, and ya'll do need to get a life. For real!!!

Ok. I think Holly made a really good point and I thought your link was hilarious (though it is making me very sad that it took me more than a minute to see those dolphins...). I think it is what it is. A sausage with hello kitty on it. I personally would not put hello kitty on a sausage but hey, maybe that tall man is a really big fan!

i think this is really funny... ok.. so putting hello kitty on a sausage is a bit odd.. cuz u have to eat her.. n shes too cute to eat.. its not perverted or grotesque... its food.. people eat other things with pictures on so whats wrong with a sausage with a picture... hmm.. however... the actual pastry bit doesnt look to good.. i think it should have been cooked a bit longer..dont you??
meow ^_^

i would have to sniff it to be sure, but i dont think i'd eat a pastry with sausage in it (even if it was adorned with hello kitty)... in my experience, they do not mix.
and to those of you who say people like me should grow up, LALALA *plugs ears* i dont have to listen to you!
